TSC Launches Data Update for Unemployed Teachers Across Kenya

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has started a nationwide update of information for all unemployed registered teachers. This is meant to refine planning and help the commission understand the number of trained and available teachers in the country.

The information collected will help the commission understand the availability of teachers and school requirements. This will assist them in making informed decisions regarding education in the country.

“The updated data will be handled safely and in line with the Data Protection Act,” the commission said. “Teachers can be assured their information will remain confidential.”

TSC was quick to clarify that the exercise is administrative only and does not mean the commission is offering jobs at this stage. Participation will not guarantee employment or immediate recruitment.

Teachers are asked to submit their details online through the TSC portal at www.tsc.go.ke
under the “Careers” section. The update window closes on March 16, 2026, at midnight. Teachers can also use a direct profile link provided by TSC to correct or update details like subject combinations.

The data collection, which opened on March 3, requires teachers to provide identification details including their ID or passport number, TSC number, surname as on their registration certificate, and an active phone number for contact.

This move by the TSC comes at a time when the government plans to recruit 24,000 new teachers and make 46,000 teachers permanent and pensionable in order to improve the education sector in the country.

“This exercise helps us plan more effectively and ensures that no qualified teacher is left out when new opportunities arise,” TSC said.
