TSC Announces 9,000 New Teaching Jobs as Attrition Creates Vacancies

The Teachers Service Commission has opened more than 9,000 teaching positions across the country following the departure of teachers through natural attrition.

In a notice released on Tuesday, November 25, the Commission says that it is looking to employ 7,065 teachers for primary schools, 12 for junior schools, and 2,082 for secondary schools. Successful candidates will be employed on permanent and pensionable terms.

Who Can Apply

Only Kenyan citizens who are registered with the TSC should apply.

Applicants for primary school must have a P1 certificate or higher, while applicants for junior and secondary school must have a Diploma in Education or higher.

How to Apply

Applications are to be submitted online only through:

tsc.go.ke (under the “Careers” section), or

teachersonline.tsc.go.ke

Applications will be accepted through December 8, 2025.

TSC noted that it will strictly adhere to its 2025/2026 recruitment guidelines and that the merit list from this round may be used again for other vacancies within the current financial year.

The shortlisted candidates will be required to provide original academic and professional certificates, including the KCPE and KCSE results, during the interview.

Key Warnings from TSC

The Commission warned applicants against submitting more than one application, stating this will lead to outright disqualification. Manual submissions will also not be accepted.

TSC added that preference will be given to candidates who have never been employed by the Commission before, adding that those hired should also be ready to work anywhere in the country, regardless of where they were interviewed.

The Commission, while reiterating that the entire recruitment exercise is absolutely free, warned applicants to beware of fraudsters who may demand money from them with the intention of helping them.
