The Technical University of Kenya (TUK) has swiftly addressed online rumors claiming that the institution would be closed for 90 days.

On Saturday, April 19, the university’s administration firmly denied the false reports circulating, which suggested the university was shutting down due to financial insolvency.

Through a post on its official social media accounts, TUK urged the public to ignore the fabricated press release.

"The document being circulated is a FAKE. The university remains open, and all classes and operations are continuing without interruption," read the statement.

The false notice had stated that TUK would be shut down from Monday, April 21, 2025, for a period of three months or until a resolution was reached regarding its financial situation. It also claimed that no one would be allowed on campus during this alleged closure.

TUK officials reassured students, staff, and other stakeholders that there were no disruptions to academic activities or university operations, and that everything would proceed as scheduled.
