Popular TikToker Githaiga Wa Chai has appealed to the government to intervene in the case of a Kenyan man allegedly detained in Saudi Arabia after highlighting the suffering of migrant workers in the Gulf.

In an emotional TikTok video shared on Sunday, November 23, 2025, Githaiga recounted how the man, identified as Kiongozi, was reportedly arrested for exposing the harsh conditions Kenyans endure while working in the region.

He questioned why a Kenyan citizen would face arrest simply for speaking out about mistreatment abroad.

“Guys, allow me to bring something to your attention. Kiongozi lives in the Gulf and supports the sisi kwa sisi movement,” Githaiga told his followers.

According to him, Kiongozi has long been a vocal advocate for the welfare of Kenyan migrant workers. He once travelled from the Gulf to support activist Kaluma Boy before returning to Saudi Arabia to continue his job.

Githaiga claims that the trouble began after Kiongozi accompanied Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thangwa on a walk through areas believed to house some of the most exploited Kenyan migrants. The walk, which reportedly went viral, exposed grim living conditions faced by workers in the Gulf.

“He showed Karungo how Kenyans are suffering, and that is when the trouble started,” Githaiga said.

The TikToker further alleged that the arrest may have been influenced by a powerful individual with business interests in Kenya, a claim that has stirred concern among Kenyans online.

The revelation has triggered an outpouring of sympathy and calls for government action, with many demanding immediate intervention from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Kenyan Embassy in Riyadh.
