A section of the Taita community living in Mombasa has welcomed the retention of Labour and Skills Development Principal Secretary Shadrack Mwadime in the recent government executive reshuffle.

Led by John Walele, the community expressed their appreciation, noting that for years, they have felt overlooked in national leadership. Walele emphasized that Mwadime’s retention signals a new era of recognition and inclusion for the Taita people at the national level.”This appointment marks a new era, bringing a sense of recognition and inclusion to our community, which has long been underrepresented in national leadership,” Walele said.

The community is also celebrating the appointment of five Principal Secretaries from the region, a milestone they say has never been witnessed in previous administrations. They believe these appointments will ensure the interests of the region are better represented and that development efforts will be more inclusive.

The recent executive changes by President William Ruto have sparked conversations on regional representation, with many communities advocating for greater inclusion in key government positions.

The Taita community now hopes that their newfound representation will translate into tangible development and empowerment for their people.

The retention of Mwadime and the additional PS appointments have been seen as a step towards correcting historical underrepresentation, giving hope to communities that have long felt marginalized.
