President William Ruto has suspended, with immediate effect, Swarup Mishra from his position as the chair of the Board of Directors of Kenya BioVax Institute Limited.
This follows allegations of kidney harvesting at Mediheal Hospital and Fertility Centre in Eldoret, a hospital that was founded by Mishra
In a statement on Friday, April 18, President Ruto said the suspension shall remain in force pending the outcome of investigations into the alleged unethical and illegal kidney harvesting at the Mediheal hospitals.
"The president reaffirms the Government's commitment to fighting corruption, including upholding integrity in healthcare, public safety, and justice for victims," State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said in a statement.
This comes hours after Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale suspended all kidney transplant services at Mediheal Group of Hospitals.
