A suspected boda boda thief was set on fire after being lynched by angry residents in Madogo, Tana North Sub-County. His partner fled, prompting the police to issue a manhunt notice.

The event in the Adele area of Bangale Sub-County, where two men, with no names given, are said to have attacked a local man, Osman Sale, just as he was preparing to go to the mosque for morning prayers.

Bwango Deputy County Commissioner Joseph Kipkorir in his reaction to the incident stated that he cannot condone the lynching and he is quick to add that residents are warned not to take the law into their hands.

“Although we sympathise with the public whose motorcycles are stolen, we call upon them to be patient and let the police do their work,” Kipkorir said.

Besides, he said that the security officers from Bangale are collaborating with those in Bura to break a gang of thieves who are stealing motorbikes and are believed to be moving from one place to another in the region.

On the other hand, a Local Authority has pleaded with security officers to increase the number of police and military personnel deployed in the areas known for such activities to forestall their intentions of robbing Boda Boda.
