A suspect has been arrested in Vihiga County following a police operation targeting illicit brews and illegal drugs in the region.
The police from Emakakha Police Station together with National Government Administrations Officers (NGAO) visited Esiliebi Village, Emuhaya Sub, County for a joint operation.
The security team managed to arrest a suspect who was found with 100 litres of chang’aa, an illegal alcoholic brew, and a package suspected to be cannabis sativa.
Both the chang’aa and cannabis have been recorded as court exhibits and will form the basis of the investigation on the illegal trade.
The accused person is still held at the station and will soon get court hearing to answer the charges.
According to National Police Service, the fight against illicit liquor and drugs will be extended to all parts of the country as the major part of their role to safeguard public and increase security.
Law enforcement agencies have ramped up efforts on the illegal manufacturing, trafficking, and selling of narcotics while also threatening with prosecution, whoever will be found dealing in such substances.
NPS pledges to cooperate with other government bodies and the community in fighting illicit brews and drugs.
