Kenya Tong-Il-Moo-Do Federation’s national team, Jasiri, secured a record 12th straight title after a dominant display at the 12th Mombasa Open Tong-Il-Moo-Do Championships, which ended at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa.

Jasiri topped the medal table with an outstanding total of 234 medals — 67 gold, 67 silver, and 100 bronze — finishing well ahead of the Philippines, who placed second with 50 medals (23 gold, 10 silver, and 17 bronze).

Zambia rounded off the podium in third place with 23 medals, including five gold, four silver, and 14 bronze.

KTMF President Master Clarence Mwakio described the championships as a success despite logistical and financial hurdles.

He revealed that although 53 countries had confirmed participation, only 12 were able to make the trip to the coastal city due to late preparations and funding constraints.

Kenya head coach Ibrahim Mchumba, who named a squad of 102 athletes, applauded the impact of debutants, noting that their strong showings played a key role in boosting the country’s medal tally.

As the championship concluded, KTMF declared 2025 a successful year for the sport, while calling on the government to release funds in good time and fast-track the development of indoor sports facilities to support the growth of Tong-Il-Moo-Do nationwide.
