Police in Uasin Gishu County are investigating an unusual housebreaking incident in which a suspect reportedly surrendered himself with stolen items after an alleged witchcraft ritual.

According to a police report filed at Baharini Police Station under OB No. 30/18/12/2025, the complainant, Emmanuel Wafula Luhya, reported that his house in Shirika Estate, Turbo Sub-County, was broken into during the day. Items stolen included a 32-inch Ampex television set, a 6kg gas cylinder and a woofer, all valued at approximately Sh30,000.

After reporting the burglary, the complainant allegedly sought the services of a herbalist identified as Elizabeth Kashindi. Police say that on December 19, 2025, the herbalist performed a ritual, after which a male suspect in his early 20s appeared in Kapsoya carrying the stolen items while reportedly being followed by a swarm of bees.

Officers from Kapsoya Police Station rescued the suspect and alerted Baharini Police Station. The suspect was later transferred to Baharini Police Station, where police noted that he was not speaking. The herbalist allegedly informed officers that another ritual would be required to “resuscitate” the suspect to normal condition, a process she claimed could take up to two days.

As investigations continue, police have detained the complainant and the herbalist at Baharini Police Station pending further inquiries. The suspect remains in custody as the case is handled by officers at the station.

Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and the recovery of the stolen items.
