Rising Kenyan striker Lawrence Okoth Ouma has completed a move to Finnish Premier League club SJK Seinäjoki, becoming the latest young talent from Kenya to make the leap into European football.

The 19-year-old forward joins from the Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA), a club competing in Kenya’s National Super League (NSL), the second tier of domestic football.

Ouma’s transfer marks a rare and impressive jump from local grassroots football straight into top-tier European competition.

“It’s a dream come true. I want to make Kenya proud,” said an emotional Ouma after sealing the deal.

Ouma first made headlines during the 2023 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where he etched his name into the history books as Kenya’s first-ever goal scorer in the tournament.

A standout performer for the Rising Stars, Ouma was praised for his physical presence, clinical finishing, and maturity beyond his years.

The Veikkausliiga, Finland’s top division, has increasingly become a stepping stone for players looking to break into larger European leagues.

As Ouma begins his European journey, all eyes will be on how the former NSL star adapts to the demands of professional football abroad—and how far he can go from here.
