The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohamed Amin has called out former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for seeking media attention on serious security matters.
Amin was reacting to Gachagua’s sensational claim, via his social media handles, that his life is in danger and there is a well-orchestrated plan to assassinate him.
Speaking on Saturday, the DCI boss asked Gachagua to follow the right channels and report the matter to the police instead of displaying theatrics in the media with serious security concerns.
Amin insisted that Gachagua, just like any other Kenyan, will be accorded the security he needs, and the police will ensure his property is protected.
"If the former Deputy President Gachagua has an issue in matters concerning the threat to his life and property, he should go and report to the nearest police station and stop engaging in media theatrics," said Amin.
Amin said after the report, like any other report by any Kenyan, Gachagua’s claim will be investigated to its logical conclusion.
Earlier, in a strongly worded statement to the Inspector-General of the National Police Service, Douglas Kanja, Gachagua decried the withdrawal of his security, saying it has exposed him to organised criminal gangs who are after his life.
