Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are chasing down the thugs who stole a high-end vehicle car in Nairobi but dumped it in Kajiado after they established they were being pursued.
The unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK350d had vanished from a garage in Spring Valley area where it had been booked for paint job on Friday.
The vehicle was reported missing, and so was the watchman. His mobile phone was switched off and this prompted police to act.
Detectives pinpointed the Benz cruising along the busy Mombasa Road. Police gave chase, with the pursuit ending at a roadblock mounted by Imbirikani officers in Kajiado South Sub-County.
The suspects escaped into thickets and when officers inspected the vehicle, they found it matched the description but had been tampered with and a fitted with fake registration plate, KDR 003N.
The vehicle has since been seized and escorted back to Nairobi while investigators continue hunting for the suspects.
