Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has announced the passing of his father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa, in an emotional tribute that reflected on their shared journey of struggles and triumphs.

In a heartfelt statement, Kingi expressed his deep sorrow and appreciation for the sacrifices his father made to shape his life.

“Dad, our Patriarch Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa has rested. I’m completely broken, Dad, especially when I remember the painful journey and struggles that you went through to make me who I am today,” Kingi said.

The Speaker recounted his father’s health struggles, noting that Mwaruwa endured numerous ailments that often weighed him down.

Despite these challenges, Kingi highlighted a cherished moment during the December 2024 holidays when he and his father shared a rare dance together.

“Since I attained adulthood, I don’t remember ever dancing with you, Dad. Not until December 24, 2024, during Christmas at Mjanaheri village when, for the very first time, we danced, danced and danced together until sunset,” he recalled.

He described the moment as one filled with joy and gratitude, celebrating his father’s recovery from years of illness.

“I didn’t know that dance would be the first and last with you, Dad,” Kingi added.

He went on to honor his father’s influence in his life, particularly the lesson of perseverance.

“It is this lesson that has pushed me this far. Indeed, you were God’s gift to us. I would never have asked for a better father,” he said.

Kingi concluded his tribute with a moving farewell:

“Dad, may the Angels open the Gates of Heaven and welcome another Angel with a dance just like we did at Mjanaheri. Until we meet again, Dad.”

The passing of Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa is a profound loss to the Speaker’s family and the wider community, with many expected to join in mourning and celebrating his legacy.
