A woman, believed to be the mother of Tanzanian gospel singer Martha Mwaipaja, has shared her emotional story about a family feud, sparking a lot of online discussion about the singer’s private and public life.

The family conflict became public during a graduation ceremony when Mwaipaja’s sister, Beatrice, broke down and accused the singer of abandoning her family. Beatrice claimed that despite Martha’s success and kindness to strangers, she had neglected her own family, leaving their mother to struggle.

In an emotional interview with Wemu TV, Mwaipaja’s mother opened up about her hardships after losing her husband, Essau, in 1995. She explained that cultural practices forced her to leave her husband’s home, as daughters were not allowed to inherit property.

“They sent me back to my family, where I faced many challenges because they didn’t want me there either,” she said. A kind woman helped her find shelter, and she struggled to raise her children in tough circumstances.

Now living in Dar es Salaam, Mwaipaja’s mother revealed that she remarried and moved into a house built by her new husband. She said that Martha had helped by giving her household items, including a refrigerator and sofas. However, she expressed bitterness over the singer’s apparent preference for a former househelp over her own family.

“The woman causing all these issues came into our lives as a househelp. My daughter might promise to send money, but this woman blocks it or makes sure I get very little.”

The mother also shared a painful memory when Martha invited her to lunch, only to disappear afterward. “Since that day, I don’t know where she lives. Whenever we find out, she moves to a new place,” she said, with tears in her eyes.
