Kenyan singer Bahati has officially announced that he plans to run for the Member of Parliament seat in Mathare. Speaking during an interview on the Mic Cheque podcast, Bahati made his political ambitions clear.

“I am the next Member of Parliament for Mathare,” he declared confidently. “The seat is important because it gives you a platform to present issues directly to the government. They only really listen when you have that position,” he added.

Bahati explained that his decision to enter politics was not about chasing power, but about serving the people of Mathare. He believes the constituency has huge potential but struggles with limited opportunities for its residents.

“For me, it was never about politics,” he shared. “When I decided to vie, I was honestly scared of the government of the day. That fear made me join the Jubilee Party. All I wanted was a way to get to Parliament so I could help our people.”

Bahati’s bold move shows his desire to create real change and use his platform to uplift the community he once called home.
