Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has strongly defended her marriage with her spouse, ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, following claims that she dominates him in public.

Addressing clergy members in the United States, Pastor Dorcas dismissed the claims, with a touch of humor stating that she might be overshadowing such a bold political character.

“Sometimes he lets me speak first, not because I ‘sit on him,’” she said with a smile. “How do you sit on a man who has the whole country talking? The President, Deputy President, and MPs can’t seem to stop mentioning him. Wamunyoro this, Wamunyoro that.”

She described their bond as one of unity and shared values, adding that moving together in public and speaking at events was part of their effort to uphold family values.

“We are one,” she said simply.

Her comments follow a public statement made by Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah, who had said that Gachagua was being directed and controlled by his wife.

The remark raised uproar, with some politicians condemning the MP for unnecessarily dragging Pastor Dorcas into dirty politics.

In response, women leaders allied to the former DP demanded Ichung’wah’s arrest, saying his comments were not only disrespectful but targeted women unfairly.

“We want the DCI to act this kind of attack on women cannot go unchecked,” one leader said
