Content creator Sheryl Gabriella has sparked online conversation after sharing a frustrating experience involving a famous cab ride that reportedly took an unexpected turn.

In a series of Instagram Stories, Sheryl narrated how what was meant to be a short trip from Kitisuru to Kenyatta Road ended up costing her more than double the expected fare. Tagging the cab company, she questioned the pricing, writing:

“Jamani 😔 from Kitisuru to Kenyatta Road 3k???”

According to Sheryl, exhaustion played a role in the situation. She revealed that she fell asleep during the ride, only to wake up and realise the route had dramatically changed. In one caption, she humorously but pointedly wrote:

“I was super exhausted and took a nap kiasi 😂 kuamka najipata Mombasa Road na nafaa kuwa Thika Road bwana 🤣🤣🤣 naaah @bolt_kenya refund my money please!”

Screenshots shared alongside the story appeared to show an M-PESA confirmation message indicating a payment of KSh 3,350, a sharp jump from the initial fare estimate of around KSh 1,600.

Sheryl further explained that the driver allegedly failed to follow the app’s navigation, leading to the detour and price hike. Expressing clear frustration, she added:

“The driver didn’t use the directions from the app and got us lost leading to a price hike from 1600 to 3350 😭😭😭 I can’t wait to get my car back fr!!”

Her post quickly resonated with many social media users, with some sharing similar ride-hailing horror stories, while others debated accountability between drivers, apps, and passengers.
