American rapper Nicki Minaj could be positioned at the White House as the next press secretary position following a discussion at the aboard Air Force One with a longtime supporter of US President Donald Trump, White House communications director Steve Cheung.

The development news was reported on October 25, after Cheung and Trump adviser Alex Bruesewitz floated Minaj’s name on social media.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!” Cheung wrote on X, tagging Minaj.

Minaj responded back to Cheung, sharing an American flag, confirming she was being formally considered for the position.

“Well, it’s exploding because we have a president that understands economics, first of all. I’ve said before the president is naturally a businessman. He’s worked his way out of, you know, not having a dollar left in the bank. So, if he can do that with himself and his own finances, surely, he knows what to do with the country,” Minaj said.

According to reports, Minaj received informal nominations following the abrupt departure of former White House press secretary Katie Zacharia.

Zacharia was removed from the position on October 16, following a rocky start marked by criticism of her first press briefing and questions about her professional credentials.

Zacharia faced scrutiny after describing herself as a lawyer despite not having passed the California bar exam. She also defended her use of the title, saying it related to her legal analysis work and experience in China.

However, the rapper has continued to appear alongside Trump as part of his celebrity entourage during a nationwide tour aimed at boosting support ahead of the midterm elections.

She joined the president at a rally in Michigan, where she appeared on stage dressed head-to-toe in Gucci.

Minaj later took to the stage to praise the president, saying he had “changed the energy of the country.”

“He’s given us a future to look forward to,” she said.
