Samsung has released the Galaxy S26 series in Kenya with the aim of raising the bar in premium smartphones with artificial intelligence at the core.
The new series comprises the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The new series boasts smarter AI features than the previous ones. They cover automation, photography, and privacy. During the launch event, Evelyn Munene, Head of Product & Marketing for Samsung East Africa, noted that “We want AI to work in the background so you can focus on what you want to do, not on how it works.”
The Galaxy S26 Ultra boasts a built-in feature that displays the content of the phone privately from prying eyes in public places like the office, café, or in a bus.
On the performance side, the new series boasts a processor that is the result of a collaboration between Samsung and Qualcomm. The processor can handle heavy tasks like gaming, video streaming, and multitasking with minimal heat build-up. The Galaxy S26 Ultra boasts fast charging that can give the phone 75% charge in 30 minutes.
Photography is a core feature in the new series. The new series boasts improved low-light photography capabilities, video recording, and photo editing using AI. The photo editor can edit images using text commands.
Voice interactions are also improved in the new series. They combine Bixby with AI capabilities to enable users to perform tasks using voice commands alone.
Security has been improved in the new series. It boasts better detection of malicious applications and improved security for sensitive information on the phone.
Pre-orders for the new series are live in Kenya at various retail outlets including Samsung stores. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is in the premium segment and is now available for more than Ksh 190,000.
This comes at a time when many companies are working hard to integrate more artificial intelligence in their products. They hope to persuade consumers to upgrade to new products despite the rising cost of these products.
