President William Ruto’s administration has launched a unified approach to accelerate development projects across the nation, coordinating efforts between the Executive and Legislative branches to address challenges facing the Kenya Kwanza development agenda.

Over the weekend, Principal Secretaries Ann Wang’ombe (Gender and Affirmative Action) and Salome Muhia (Correctional Services) joined Nyeri Town MP Maina Mathenge on a tour to inspect various government projects in local schools within the constituency.

The inspection aimed to evaluate the progress of initiatives spearheaded by the Basic Education department, under the guidance of PS Belio Kipsang, and supported by the National Government Development Fund (NG-CDF).

PS Wang’ombe emphasized that President Ruto has urged them to work closely with MPs to expedite the completion of projects aligned with the Kenya Kwanza administration’s goals.

“Our visit reflects the President’s call for a one-government approach. We are collaborating with the Legislative branch to evaluate and support the transformation efforts led by the State Department of Basic Education,” Wang’ombe said.

In partnership with the ICT department, the State Department of Gender provided Giakanja Boys High School with 20 computers.

“This tour also allows us to engage directly with citizens at the grassroots level, as directed by the President. We believe in empowering our youth through education,” Wang’ombe added.

PS Muhia noted that her department has identified areas where it can work with NG-CDF to enhance school infrastructure.

The PSs also donated books to the schools. “This is a prime example of our whole-government approach. We are collaborating across departments to accelerate development and advance our country’s progress by the end of this financial year,” Muhia said.

MP Mathenge highlighted the effectiveness of the one-government strategy in transforming various sectors of the economy. He emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a conducive learning environment.

“As our students undertake their end-of-term exams, it’s essential to motivate them to achieve their best. Our goal is to inspire students in this constituency to recognize and reach their full potential,” Mathenge said.

The leaders also assessed the construction of modern laboratories for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), replacement of asbestos roofs, construction of multi-purpose halls, and new classrooms.

They further visited Gikondi Boys High School in Mukurwe-ini Constituency for similar evaluations.

Wang’ombe concluded, “We chose to visit boys’ secondary schools to ensure that mentorship is inclusive. We aim to encourage the boy child as well, ensuring that no student is left behind.”
