President William Ruto on Thursday held a consultative meeting at State House with leaders from Mandera County.
Among those who attended the meeting included Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif, Senator Ali Ibrahim Roba, and all six Members of Parliament from the county’s constituencies.
Speaking, president Ruto said the discussion focused on rolling out “transformative programmes” across Mandera, including ensuring dependable electricity, improved roads, access to clean water, affordable housing, modern markets, and student hostels for each technical college in the county.
“Met leaders from Mandera led by Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif and Senator Ali Ibrahim Roba. Also present were all the MPs from the county’s six constituencies,’ he said.
He said this initiative is part of a broader strategy to expand irrigation, enhance food security, and unlock economic potential in the arid north.
“Large-scale irrigation can transform livelihoods and create jobs,” he said, underscoring the link between development and economic opportunity.
