President William Ruto has congratulated the Harambee Starlets for their impressive 3–1 victory over Gambia, a result that moves Kenya closer to qualifying for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) in Morocco.

In a statement, the President hailed the team’s performance as a testament to their discipline, talent, and determination, as well as the effective leadership of the technical bench.

”Hearty congratulations to our gallant Harambee Starlets for the 3-1 triumph over Gambia, a commanding performance that propels Kenya closer to qualification for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) in Morocco. This victory speaks to the discipline, talent, and determination of our women footballers, and the steadfast leadership of the technical bench,” Ruto said in a statement shared on social media.

Ruto said the Starlets had made the country proud and reaffirmed Kenya’s growing strength in women’s sports. He encouraged the players to remain focused as they prepare for the return leg, assuring them of the nation’s full support.
