President William Ruto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating development in the Coast region through major infrastructure and economic empowerment projects aimed at improving livelihoods and boosting trade.

Speaking during a development tour in Kwale County, the President said the government was implementing transformative projects across the Coast to ensure the region fully benefits from the country’s development agenda after years of lagging behind.

Ruto said the administration’s objective is to ensure equitable distribution of national resources so that every part of the country benefits equally from government programmes.

During the visit, the President laid the foundation stone for the Kinango Modern Market, one of six modern markets being constructed in Kwale County to support small-scale traders and stimulate local businesses.

He noted that the Diani Modern Market has already been completed and is expected to significantly enhance trade activities and create economic opportunities for residents.

The President also flagged off the KSh29 million Kinango Last-Mile Connectivity Project, which will connect more than 400 households to electricity in the area.

Ruto further announced that the government has committed KSh1.8 billion towards connecting an additional 15,000 households to electricity across Kwale County by the end of the year.
The Head of State was accompanied by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki during the event.
