President William Ruto has beamed the Social Health Authority (SHA) sponsorship programme which includes a government plan that is aimed at easing the burden of poor households across the country.
The President indicated that his government would not relent in its efforts to enhance people’s access to health care and provide social safety nets for those in economic difficulties.
“The SHA will be extremely important in organising the health programmes and also in making sure that the resources get to the poorest of the poor,” said President Ruto, pointing out that the initiative ushers in a new era in the realisation of universal health coverage.
The meeting at the launch was the occasion for senior government officials, healthcare practitioners, and community representatives to exchange views on ways to extend access to healthcare, improve the quality of the services offered and increase the reliability of social support systems.
The SHA sponsorship programme forms an integral part of government reforms in the health sector intended to make it possible for every Kenyan, whether rich or poor, to receive quality medical care and be protected from any social risks.
