President William Ruto has conferred the prestigious rank of Senior Counsel on 54 advocates of the High Court of Kenya, marking one of the largest elevations in the country’s legal fraternity.
The conferment took place on Monday at State House, Nairobi, in a ceremony attended by top judicial and government officials.
Dr. Ruto congratulated the newly inducted Senior Counsel, describing the honour as a recognition of their exemplary service, professional excellence, and contribution to Kenya’s legal landscape.
The President challenged the advocates to carry the title with integrity, patriotism, professionalism, and humility, noting that the expectations placed upon them are immense.
“May our new Senior Counsel carry this distinguished title with integrity, patriotism, professionalism, and humility. May they do the utmost for our nation, safeguard our democracy, help strengthen our institutions of governance, support necessary reforms, and further access to justice for all in our country,” President Ruto said.
He emphasized the critical role Senior Counsel play in shaping jurisprudence, mentoring younger lawyers, and defending constitutionalism at a time when Kenya continues to advance governance reforms.
