President William Ruto has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Belgium, highlighting growing cooperation in trade, investment, renewable energy and climate action.
Speaking while bidding farewell to Belgium’s outgoing Ambassador to Kenya, Peter Maddens, who has completed his tour of duty, President Ruto said the two countries continue to enjoy strong diplomatic ties that have been reinforced by recent engagements.
The President noted that his business roundtable in Brussels in June 2026 helped deepen economic cooperation between Kenya and Belgium, attracting increased interest from Belgian investors, particularly in the agriculture sector.
Ruto said Belgium remains the leading destination for Kenyan coffee, with several businesses from the European nation expressing interest in expanding investments in Kenya’s agribusiness sector.
“Kenya and Belgium share strong bilateral and diplomatic relations anchored on trade and investment, renewable energy and climate action,” the President said.
He thanked Ambassador Maddens for his service in strengthening relations between the two countries and wished him success in his next diplomatic assignment.
