Real Madrid has officially unveiled Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva as their latest summer transfer under manager Jose Mourinho. Silva is on a free transfer after ending his nine years at Manchester City, where he became one of Pep Guardiola’s most trusted players.
The 31-year-old has signed a two-year contract until 2028. His move is seen as a strategic replacement for Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
“Real Madrid and Bernardo Silva have reached an agreement for him to become a Real Madrid player for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2028,” a statement from Real Madrid read.
Silva made over 460 appearances, scored 76 goals and lifted 19 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League. He is expected to bring leadership and creativity to Madrid’s field.
Mourinho’s reunion was confirmed by the club President Florentino Perez after he won the club election in May, 2026.
Silva becomes the second English Premier League player to join the club after the Chelsea and Spanish international.
Real Madrid is shaping the team for the future, as they begin a new era while they are restoring Madrid’s status as Europe best club.
