President William Ruto has assured residents of Western Kenya that the region will be a key beneficiary of the country’s development agenda.

Speaking at the burial of Malava MP Moses Malulu Injendi in Kakamega County, the President announced the construction of five new roads to boost economic growth in the region.

“You have said you were left behind in the past governments. I will make sure Western will not be left behind in development,” Ruto stated.

He emphasized the need for leaders to focus on structured development rather than political wrangles, warning that divisions would stall progress.

“I have said it before, Kakamega will not be changed with noise or chaos. It will be changed with good plans and strategy,” he noted.

Ruto’s remarks came amid growing concerns over frequent political clashes in public gatherings. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula urged local politicians to exercise tolerance and end the trend of confrontations at funerals and other public events.

“Stop misusing youths to cause chaos in funerals or public meetings. Chaos will not take you anywhere,” Mudavadi cautioned.

Reaffirming his commitment to the region’s development, Ruto called for unity among leaders and pledged that 2025 would be a year of tangible results.

“I want to thank the leaders from here, led by Governor Barasa, for agreeing to work with me to transform the region. We have agreed that we must speed up development,” he said.
