President William Ruto has appointed Dr Martin Koyabe as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the newly established National Cybersecurity Agency.
The appointment was contained in Gazette Notice No. 13506, issued on August 21, 2026, under the State Corporations (National Cybersecurity Agency) Order, 2026. Koyabe will serve for a period of three years, with his tenure taking effect from August 21.
According to the gazette notice, the appointment was made under Section 7(a) of the State Corporations (National Cybersecurity Agency) Order, 2026.
The National Cybersecurity Agency is expected to play a key role in strengthening Kenya’s protection of digital systems and critical infrastructure as government services, businesses and financial transactions increasingly move online.
Koyabe’s appointment comes as the government continues to establish and strengthen institutional structures dealing with cybersecurity and emerging digital threats.
The latest changes are part of a wider round of appointments and reappointments to State boards. Ruto also appointed Lynette Njeru to chair the Railway Development Levy Fund Board and reappointed Joseah Kiplangat Cheruiyot as chairperson of the Kenya Medical Training College Board of Management.
