President William Ruto has announced Ksh 600 million allocation to extend the Bomet-Mulot-Longisa water supply project in Bomet town and establish a modern sewerage system. This move is expected to transform public health, urban planning and economic growth in the county.
Speaking during his development tour in Bomet County, President Ruto emphasized the Ksh 600 million allocation is part of a broader agenda to modernize county infrastructure that will ensure equitable access to essential services
The extension will connect Bomet town with water supply line, ensure a reliable access to clean water for households, businesses and institutions as thousands of residents are expected to benefit from improved water distribution, reducing reliance on boreholes and seasonal rivers.
The project is designed to support long-term urban growth, with a capacity to meet rising demands as Bomet continues to expand.
Alongside the water extension, the new sewerage construction will be built that will handle waste management in the town, as proper sewage disposal will reduce waterborne diseases, improve sanitation and enhance an overall quality of life.
The system will support structured development, making Bomet County more attractive to investors and residents.
The sewerage system is expected to prevent pollution of rivers and groundwater, safeguarding ecosystems. The investment reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening county-level infrastructure under Kenya’s devolution framework.
