Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino were involved in a scary gun drama at a high-end restaurant in Kilimani on Saturday, January 3.
In the incident, Babu was at the Cedars Lebanese Restaurant with a man having a private lunch meeting before Alai arrived moments later and headed straight to the MP’s table.
The two lawmakers had a brief exchange, which suddenly escalated into a shouting match, with Alai accusing Babu of orchestrating online attacks against his wife through social media personality Maverick Aoko.
"Babu, in his defence, said he does not know Alai's wife personally and has absolutely no reason to malign her," a witness at the hotel said.It was at this moment that Alai drew his gun, cocked it and pointed it at Babu and attempted to pull the trigger several times.
Fortunately for Babu, the gun was not properly cocked and jammed.
A DCI officer, Mohamed Amin Shurie, who was at the restaurant, intervened and disarmed Alai.
