Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is currently hospitalised after suddenly falling ill on Friday, November 28, prompting urgent medical attention.
A source intimated to TUKIO.co.ke revealed that Gachagua’s sickness has been concealed from the public to avoid raising speculations, given that it came after getting unfavourable results in the November 27 by-elections.
In the elections, especially in Mbeere North, Gachagua’s candidate Newton Kariuki, alias Karish, lost to UDA’s Leonard Wa Muthende, a political statement that favoured President William Ruto’s camp.
After the loss, the agitated Gachagua took to social media to rant, making unfounded allegations against the government.
The DCP leader had banked on Karish’s win to stamp his authority in the ongoing Mt. Kenya supremacy battle with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, with whom they exchanged salvos during the campaigns.
It is not clear whether it is the political defeat after the mini-poll that has taken a toll on Gachagua, or if he is just under the weather after a gruelling campaign for his candidates since cutting short his trip in the United States of America.
The source wished him a quick recovery from the sickness and wished him well as he comes to terms with the by-election humiliation.
It is worth noting that Gachagua was also hospitalised during his impeachment trial due to chest pains caused by stress.
