The office of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has terminated the employment contracts of several employees for unspecified reasons.
Among those shown the door are Martha Miamo, who served as the Deputy Director of Public Communications, and Personal Assistant Francis Maina.
According to the termination letters exclusively seen by TUKIO.co.ke, the fired staff have until October 20 to clear from their offices.
Addressing her dismissal, Miamo regretted that her termination letter had circulated on social media before she received it personally.
"It's unfortunate that my termination letter had to pass through social media to get to me. As of now, I have not seen or received the letter. But it's okay. I think that's how life is. I stood by what I believed in, and my heart convinced me it's the right thing to do," Miano wrote.Gachagua has since been on the receiving end from social media users over the purported reasons for firing the said staff.
It is alleged that the aforementioned staff were dismissed for painting President William Ruto and the government in good light.
"It is considered inappropriate in the deputy president's office to publicly support the president or the government," a source intimated to this publication said.If the allegations are anything to go by, TUKIO.co.ke reviewed Miano’s Facebook page and it emerged she has been actively posting positively about the government’s good performance and President Ruto. This is supposedly in contrast with the stance of her colleagues.
