The Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni, on Tuesday led a sensitization workshop in Karucho, Kirinyaga County, as part of the Ministry of Health’s nationwide campaign against tobacco and drug abuse.
Addressing local residents and leaders, Ms. Muthoni reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with stakeholders to curb rising addiction rates, particularly among the youth.
“This is a national concern. We must all work together to protect our communities from the devastating impact of drug and tobacco abuse,” she said.
She urged local leaders to champion awareness and prevention programs, especially those targeting young people, and to take an active role in safeguarding public health at the grassroots.
