President William Ruto has reiterated his commitment to delivering on the promises he made during the 2022 general election campaign.

Speaking in Kimana, Kajiado County, on Sunday, December 1, 2024, Ruto outlined key areas he intends to address, emphasizing social equality and economic inclusivity.

During his address, Ruto highlighted his administration’s focus on promoting equality in society, drawing parallels to Jesus’ mission to ensure fairness for all.

“In the pursuit of equality, we want to ensure that just as Jesus came into this world not for a specific group, but for all, we too are working to make sure that no one is left behind,” Ruto explained.

He went on to highlight the importance of equal access to food and employment, stating, “When we produce food, we make sure everyone, even the poorest, can access it. When we create jobs, we ensure that even those who may not have had the chance to pursue higher education also have opportunities.”

In his speech, Ruto also defended the government’s Social Health Authority (SHA) program, which has faced criticism since its launch.

He explained that healthcare costs have often pushed many Kenyans into poverty, and reiterated that his government aims to ensure that all citizens, regardless of financial capacity, can access affordable healthcare.

“We must have a system where every Kenyan, irrespective of their financial ability, can visit a hospital without being asked for money,” he said.

The president also addressed skepticism surrounding the Affordable Housing initiative, a key part of his agenda, reaffirming that the project is progressing as planned.

“I promised here in Kimana that we would work on affordable housing, and it’s ongoing. I also promised to support farmers and improve markets, and we are moving forward with those plans,” he said.

Ruto concluded by assuring the people of Kenya that he intends to fulfill all the commitments he made during his campaign, emphasizing that these efforts are part of his vision for the country’s transformation.

“I have every intention to make sure that I fulfill the commitments I made to the people of Kenya for the transformation of our nation,” he said.

The president’s remarks were part of an interdenominational church service attended by various leaders in Kajiado, underscoring his ongoing commitment to addressing the needs of ordinary Kenyans through his government’s policies.
