President William Ruto has postponed the much-awaited Ukambani development tour.
The tour was scheduled to begin on the 21st of May.
The President has planned to commission the Emali–Ukia Road and inspect progress on the Kibwezi–Kitui–Bondoni Road, specifically the Kwa Siku to Bondo section.
The tour also included visits to key projects such as Konza City, Thwake Dam, and the Wote Stadium.
However, Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Alfred Mutua has revealed that the tour has been rescheduled to a later date that will be announced.
This announcement comes after a consultative meeting between President William Ruto and senior government leaders from Ukambani that was held on Tuesday at State House, Nairobi.
Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, who attended the meeting, said that they agreed to have a broader engagement before the tour.
“Following a highly successful consultative meeting with President William Ruto and senior government leaders from Ukambani, it was agreed that a broader engagement with Ukambani leaders should be held at State House before the planned development tour of the region,” said Dr Alfred in a post on X.
