President William Ruto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advance inclusion of persons with disabilities within the public sector.
President Ruto has directed the reinstatement of the Disability Mainstreaming Performance Indicator in performance contracts for public institutions.
This tool plays a critical role in assessing and holding public institutions accountable for their inclusivity.
“This indicator is crucial for evaluating and holding institutions accountable for their inclusivity,” said President Ruto.
He emphasized the government’s aim to embed inclusivity at the core of public service delivery.
Speaking during the signing into law the Persons with Disabilities Bill 2025, at State House, Nairobi, the President noted that disability ensures every Kenyan is included in national development.
“The government is fully committed to translating the provisions of this law into tangible improvements in the lives and welfare of persons with disabilities,” said the Head of State.
The new law replaces the Persons with Disabilities Act 2003 and introduces a modern, progressive legal framework.
