Ruto Gachagua

President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to securing justice for the family of the late former Nyeri governor James Nderitu Gachagua amid a contentious inheritance dispute. The family wrote to the president seeking his intervention, claiming that an allegedly doctored will has caused them years of hardship and uncertainty.

The dispute centers on several high-value properties, including Olive Gardens and Vipingo Beach Resort, with the family accusing former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua of using political influence to disinherit them. Speaking after Palm Sunday at AIC Kongoni in Naivasha, Ruto insisted that all property taken from the bereaved family, including a Nairobi hotel and a Kilifi house, must be returned.

Ruto addressed criticisms from Gachagua, who accused the president of meddling in family affairs. Undeterred, Ruto emphasized that his focus is on protecting widows and orphans who cannot defend themselves.

“The Bible says when widows and orphans cry for help, the Lord listens to them. So do not be worried; we will deal with these people,” he stated.
