Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development Geoffrey Ruku has called on young Africans to seize the vast opportunities in entrepreneurship as a path to wealth creation, employment, and industry transformation.
Addressing participants at the ongoing CorpsAfrica 2025 All-Country Conference (ACC) at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi, CS Ruku emphasized that youth hold the keys to shaping Africa’s economic future.“Young people have limitless opportunities in entrepreneurship, which is the roadmap to creating individual and communal wealth, employment, and redefining industries in our nation and continent,” said Ruku.
The ACC 2025, held under the theme “Leading with Ubuntu: African Youth Transforming the Continent,” has brought together over 1,000 CorpsAfrica Volunteers, alumni, development partners, and government officials from 11 African countries to celebrate youth-led, community-driven development.
Ruku noted that the Ministry of Public Service is committed to youth empowerment through various initiatives. “We are running an internship program across the government, and we are scaling it up through partnerships with the private sector to accommodate even more young people,” he said.
In a push for deeper systemic impact, the Cabinet Secretary also urged institutions of higher learning to form strategic partnerships with the corporate sector to smoothen the transition from education to employment for young professionals.“CorpsAfrica, the Mastercard Foundation, the Kenya School of Government, and the Ministry of Youth Affairs are providing platforms like the All-Country Conference for young people to participate and contribute to critical continental discourses,” he added.
Ruku was accompanied at the event by his counterpart, Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Hon. Salim Mvurya, Principal Secretary for Youth Affairs Fikirini Jacobs, and senior representatives from CorpsAfrica, the Mastercard Foundation, and the Kenya School of Government.
The ACC 2025 conference continues to serve as a continental platform for empowering African youth through leadership, innovation, and volunteerism positioning them at the forefront of community transformation and public service.
