President William Ruto mourned  the passing of veteran broadcaster and State Events Director Sammy Lui, who passed away on Thursday in his home in Subukia, Nakuru County.

President Ruto, in his condolence message, referred to Lui as a man whose voice became part of Kenya’s history  a consistent, clear voice in some of the most known moments of the nation.

“Sammy Lui was a dedicated public servant, an experienced broadcaster, and a successful State Master of Ceremonies whose voice became one with Kenya’s national identity,” the President stated.

Lui’s career stretched over decades from his early years at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), where he helped shape Kenya’s broadcasting scene, to his later work with the Presidential Press Service and eventually as the Director of State Events.

President Ruto praised him as a man who brought dignity and professionalism to every stage he graced.

His authoritative voice and commanding presence guided the country through periods of pride, celebration, and self-reflection. His dedication to excellence and humility set a standard for fellow broadcasters and government servants,” he stated.

The media universe and government offices overflowed with tributes for Lui. The colleagues mourned him as a patriot and mentor  one who approached his work with passion and purpose.

President Ruto sent his deepest condolences to Lui’s family, friends, and former colleagues, praying for comfort and strength as they come to terms with his passing.

“Sammy Lui’s contribution to Kenya’s media and his influence on generations of broadcasters will remain with us,” he said.
