President William Ruto on Monday, May 26, held talks with former United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair at State House, Nairobi.

The engagement underscores the ongoing collaboration between Kenya and the Tony Blair Institute, particularly in areas such as agriculture and information and communication technology (ICT), aimed at enhancing food security and boosting economic growth through technology.

During the meeting, President Ruto emphasised the government’s commitment to leveraging ICT to create jobs and foster economic development.

One of the key initiatives discussed includes the ambitious plan to lay down 100,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable across Kenya to improve internet connectivity nationwide, facilitating affordable and widespread access to digital services.

This infrastructure development is expected to be a cornerstone in driving Kenya’s digital economy forward.
