Prime Cabinet Secretary Dr. Musalia Mudavadi has said President William Ruto has put alot of efforts on youth empowerment as he seeks to ensure a better future for the country.

Mudavadi said President Ruto through the NYOTA programme and other sporting events has in the three years in office pushed for the young people so as to secure a better tidings for them.

Speaking when addressed thousands people who attended the Tinderet Barngetuny Mountain Run in Nandi, Mudavadi said in education alone the government had invested about a trillion into education.

“The huge investment in education is a deliberate plan by the government to ensure that the have a good foundation for the future,” said Mudavadi.

He said the government had also invested immersed itself into sports, and was building several stadiums to give an opportunity for growth of sports in the country.

“We are about to complete the Talanta Stadium, Nyayo and Kasarani will also be revamped, not to mention may other stadiums being build across the country like Kipchoge Keino in Kapsabet, Bukhungu in Kakamega and many more,” said Mudavadi.

He said the government was keen to nurture the talents in young people, terming sport as a sector that thousands had benefitted from them.

“In Kenya athletics for instance continue to market our country unlike any other paid advert can do. We need to also diversify into other sporting events to ensure every talent is harnessed,” said Mudavadi.

He asked the youths to be hardworking and continue to market the country in a better way.

“You saw recently when other countries suffered because of Visa bans, Kenya was among those to hat survived. It is because our youth have a good brand. That is hardwork and good behaviour, we need to keep this brand and grow it better,” said Mudavadi.

During the 5th Mountain Run, Mudavadi asked the youths to ensure that they keep a respectable profiles in their social media noting that countries, and even employers were now keen on one’s social media footprints.

“We have had cases where some youths have been denied visas because of their conducts on the social media platforms. This happens to you as an individual, so avoid making your posts to please the masses, when it comes do, the pain is individual,” said Mudavadi.

He asked the youths to emulate the late Mzee Ezekiel Barngetuny for who had who described as a loyal and forthright man whose decisions were firm.

“I am glad we worked well with Barngetuny.
It is deep respect that marathon carries his name,” said Mudavadi.

The event was attended by the Head of Public Service Hon. Felix Koskei, Governor of Nandi County H.E. Stephen Sang, Patron of the event and MP Hon. Julius Melly, President of Athletics Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Jackson Tuwei, Principal Secretary (PS) for Tourism Hon.John Ololtuaa, Ms. June Chepkemei CEO of Kenya Tourism Board.

Others present were Uasin Senator Jackson Mandago, and Nandi MPs, Benard Kitur (Nandi Hills), Josses Lelmengit (Emgwen), Maryanne Kitany, and Paul Biego (Chesumei).
