Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi.

The Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) has formally lodged a complaint with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), accusing Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and senior county official Daniel Njenga of gross abuse of office and illegal encroachment on public land.

The complaint, filed through KAN Advocates LLP and acknowledged by the EACC on March 20, 2025, paints a picture of alleged misconduct, misrepresentation, and unlawful occupation of PCK property.

“PCK wishes to formally lodge a complaint against Governor Kimani Wamatangi and Daniel Njenga for gross abuse of office, unlawful encroachment, misrepresentation, and misconduct in public office,” the letter states.

A copy of the complaint was also dispatched to the Inspector General of Police, underlining the urgency and seriousness with which PCK views the matter.

In a separate effort to reclaim the land, PCK Postmaster General John Tunoi wrote to both the National Police Service and the Ministry of Interior and National Administration on February 28, requesting security reinforcement to help erect a perimeter fence and evict illegal occupants.

Tunoi’s request received backing from the Kiambu Senior Deputy County Commissioner, who confirmed the need for immediate police support to facilitate the fencing and protect the property from further encroachment.

A follow-up communication dated March 3, 2025, from PCK Facilities Manager Rose Musyimi highlighted the growing threat posed by unauthorized traders, who have allegedly disrupted the corporation’s operations and activities on the site.

PCK has expressed fears that the illegal occupation may be politically motivated, with certain political figures suspected of shielding those involved in the land grab.

The corporation’s legal team is now pushing for an expedited investigation to forestall further encroachment and safeguard the integrity of public property.
