Karinde residents in Kiambu County were left in shock after police discovered the decomposing bodies of a couple in their home, suspected to be a case of murder-suicide.
According to a police report on Sunday, officers responding to the scene found the man hanging by an electricity cable while the woman’s body was lying on the floor.
A one-and-a-half-year-old infant was discovered alive beside the deceased mother and was rushed to Mutuini Hospital for treatment.
The man was identified as Reuben Ndede through an identity card found in his pocket. However, the identity of the woman, believed to be his wife, has yet to be established.
Authorities suspect that Ndede killed his wife before taking his own life.
The bodies have been moved to the Nairobi City Morgue for postmortem examinations as investigations continue.
