Police have seized 4,100 litres of illicit alcohol during a targeted operation against illegal brews and narcotic drugs in the Soweto area of Kasarani Sub-County.
The operation, conducted on Friday, July 31, was carried out by officers from Kahawa West Police Station in collaboration with National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs).
According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers recovered 4,000 litres of Kangara, 100 litres of Chang’aa, as well as several brewing apparatuses and distillation equipment used in the production of the illicit alcohol.
The multi-agency crackdown forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle illegal brewing operations that pose serious health and security risks to members of the public.
The National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to combating the manufacture, distribution and sale of illicit alcohol and narcotic drugs across the country.
“The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to the fight against dangerous, unregulated brews and narcotics that threaten public health and safety,” the service said in a statement.
Police have urged members of the public to support the fight against crime by reporting suspected illegal brewing, drug trafficking and other criminal activities to the nearest police station or through the toll-free emergency numbers 999 and 911. Authorities said investigations are ongoing as they intensify operations targeting illegal alcohol dens and drug-related activities in the area.
