Police have seized approximately 1,260 litres of illicit brew during an operation targeting illegal alcohol production in Laikipia County.

The National Police Service said officers from Nanyuki Police Station acted on information from members of the public and raided a suspected chang’aa brewing den along the Kangaitha River.

During the operation, police recovered 63 twenty-litre plastic containers filled with kangara, which is believed to have been intended for illegal distribution.

β€œDuring the raid, officers seized 63 twenty-litre plastic containers filled with kangara, amounting to approximately 1,260 litres of the illicit brew,” the National Police Service said.

The police said public cooperation was playing a crucial role in identifying and disrupting illegal brewing operations.

β€œThe crackdown on illicit brews in Laikipia County continues to gather momentum, with members of the public playing a crucial role by sharing information that enables police to identify and disrupt illegal brewing operations,” the service said.

The National Police Service said operations targeting illicit brews would continue across the country and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious or criminal activities to security agencies.
