Police Recruitment in kenya

The National Police Service (NPS) has postponed its planned recruitment exercise, which had been set to kick off on Friday, 3rd October 2025.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the NPS stated that the recruitment has been deferred to a later date following a directive from the Employment and Labour Relations Court.

This came after a petition that had been raised by Harun Mwau, protesting against the recruitment exercise.

Lady Justice Hellen Wasilwa made interim orders that suspended the exercise. She also directed the NPS, the National Police Service Commission, and the Inspector General of Police to submit their responses to the petition within seven days.

The petitioner has also been given a week in which to submit further documents and written submissions.

Although the police did not specify when the recruitment would be reinstated, they assured that they are in the process of taking legal action to have the process reinstated as soon as possible.

“The National Police Service, with the National Police Service Commission, is working diligently on legal options so that the recruitment will resume shortly,” the statement read.
