Police officers in Korogocho, Nairobi, have arrested a man suspected of snatching mobile phones from members of the public during a routine patrol.

The suspect was apprehended on Friday, August 21 along Korogocho Road in Starehe Sub-county area after officers received complaints from members of the public about a man allegedly targeting unsuspecting pedestrians.

According to National Police Service (NPS) officers from Korogocho Police post acted on the tip-off and quickly tracked down the suspect.


A mobile phone believed to have been stolen was recovered during the operation and a motorcycle allegedly owned by the suspect.

The recoverd mobile phone and motorcycle have been placed in secure police storage as police carry out further investigations.

The police have credited the efforts of the citizens who have provided timely intelligence to enable this rapid capture.


The NPS has urged residents to continue sharing information with the nearest police station, saying community policing remains crucial in preventing crime and keeping neighbourhoods safe.


The arrest comes amid continued efforts by police to combat street crime in Nairobi.
