The Polish women’s rugby 7s team has arrived in Nairobi ahead of their friendly match against Kenya’s Lionesses, scheduled for Saturday at the RFUEA Grounds.
Both teams are using the match as preparation for the upcoming World Rugby Challenger Series, with the first and second legs taking place in Cape Town this March.
The first leg will be held from March 1-2, followed by the second leg a week later.
The friendly match serves as a critical buildup for both teams, who are aiming for qualification to the prestigious World Rugby Series.
Both sides fell short in their bid to qualify last year, and this series offers them another shot.
The top four teams from the 12-team series will advance to the playoffs in Los Angeles on May 3-4, with the top four finishers there earning a place in the World Series.
In last year’s Challenger Series, Poland finished fourth with 40 points, just two ahead of Kenya.

Kenya’s Lionesses.
The Poles advanced to the play-offs in Madrid but were defeated in all their Pool A matches by China, Japan, and Spain.
Meanwhile, the Lionesses’ season ended on a disappointing note, with both teams missing out on Olympic qualification for Paris.
The last time Kenya and Poland faced off was during the third leg of the 2024 Challenger Series in Krakow, where Poland triumphed 21-10 in the semi-finals of the main cup.
